Cemento Sol Turns Sidewalks into Sightwalks.2024 Cannes Lions Grand Prix, 4 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze winner.
The Cemento Sol brand needed to bring its purpose to life.
One of Peru’s main disabilities is visual impairment. Despite this, the government does not prioritize it, leaving the visually impaired marginalized and unsupported. Cemento Sol is committed to help solve this issue by enhancing inclusivity and contributing to urban and national development but providing top-quality cement for all Peruvians.
A New Tactile System for the Visually Impaired People to Find Venues with Complete Independence
Famous
Tactile paving is a universal system of textured ground surface indicators to help visually impaired pedestrians navigate sidewalks.
However, what happens when they need to reach a destination? They are forced to depend on others for assistance.
In collaboration with the biggest visually impaired organizations, we developed a new tactile vocabulary that enhances the navigation experience of the current system. These tactile signs allow visually impaired individuals to determine what venue or service, like a bank or restaurant, is at their side, simply by counting tactile lines with their guide canes.
It is a low-tech and large-scale project that demonstrates how a product could positively influence the visually impaired’s daily lives. An innovation that helps provide the possibility of living with more freedom and autonomy.
Sightwalks is a long-term commitment project and is open source to help millions of people worldwide.
